Martinborough Vineyard 2001 Pinot Noir
‘Delicious wine that offers a featherbed texture and heady
mix of ripe fruit flavours that include plum, black cherry, licorice
and a hint of cassis. Sweet and long with ripe tannins that offer
a perfect balance.’93 points
Martinborough Vineyard 2000 Pinot Noir
‘Sweet raspberry and plum flavours lead to a drying and slightly
grippy finish. A good varietal style with potential …..’88
points
Martinborough Vineyard 1999 Pinot Noir
‘Deep, rich and warming wine with a good concentration of
plum, cherry, cassis and violet flavours. I particularly like the
palate which is at the same time firm yet delicately luscious.
Potential.’93 points
Martinborough Vineyard 1998 Pinot Noir
‘A good deep and youthful colour. Crushed strawberries, cherry
and mixed spice flavours are supported by firm, drying tannins.
A concentrated and relatively youthful wine with cellaring potential.’90
points
Martinborough Vineyard 1997 Pinot Noir
‘Toasty oak, plum and savoury/forest floor flavours are evident
in this mature Pinot Noir…. a slightly acidic, drying palate.’83
Points
Martinborough Vineyard 1996 Pinot Noir
‘Lifted, fruity wine with appealing plum, spice and wild
strawberry flavours together with some savoury bottle development.
An attractive plump and slightly sweet texture adds appeal.’88
points
Martinborough Vineyard 1995 Pinot Noir
‘Holding well and showing good developed varietal character
but without quite the complexity and ethereal quality of the superior
1994. Good wine, ready now, drying.’85 points
Martinborough Vineyard 1994 Pinot Noir
‘Lovely developed Pinot Noir with a delicate array of cherry,
plum, dried herbs, violet and gamey flavours. The wine still retains
its soft, sweet and seductive texture. Possibly past its best but
still offering great pleasure.’90 points
Martinborough Vineyard 1993 Pinot Noir
‘Delicate, savoury and very mature Pinot Noir. Light, dry
and fragile but still retaining some fruit and interest.’ 80
points
Martinborough Vineyard 1992 Pinot Noir
‘Reasonably light and leafy wine with high acidity and a
bitter, drying finish.’75 points
Martinborough Vineyard 1991 Pinot Noir
‘Developed gamy wine with a slight acetate character. Some
attractive earthy, forest floor characters but with a drying toasty
finish.’ 80 points
Martinborough Vineyard 1990 Pinot Noir
‘Lighter than the '89 with a similar hue and cloudiness.
Slightly metallic and showing more development and bitterness than
the older vintage. Interesting.’ 83 points
Martinborough Vineyard 1989 Pinot Noir
‘A moderately dense colour with brick edges and slightly
cloudy. Plummy, savoury, toasty wine that is in remarkable condition
with just the merest hint of bitterness and plenty of flavour to
offer. It is difficult to score a distinguished wine that is now
well past its best. Fascinating’. 85 Points
Reserve Pinot Noir
Martinborough Vineyard Reserve 1998 Pinot Noir
‘Appealing ripe strawberry and plum flavours are supported
by firm tannins that are a little drying now but will no doubt
promote good cellaring.’90 points
Martinborough Vineyard Reserve 1997 Pinot Noir
‘Concentrated plum, berry fruit and sappy flavours with tannins
that remain firm and drying after five years. Better than the non-Reserve
1997 but the least impressive Reserve wine.’ 85 points
Martinborough Vineyard Reserve 1996 Pinot Noir
‘Dense wine with mellow flavours that offer a heady mix of
sweet berryfuit, spice and gamey aged characters. Probably at,
or close to, full maturity.’93 points
Martinborough Vineyard Reserve 1994 Pinot Noir
‘This wine continues to impress - perhaps even more than
ever now it has reached the venerable age of eight years without
showing any ill effect. Lovely, complex, aged Pinot Noir. A classic.’95
points
Martinborough Vineyard Reserve 1991 Pinot Noir
‘Although now past its best it is still easy to appreciate
this wine's virtues. It's delicate and complex flavours are now
beginning to fade but still offer pleasure for lovers of mature
Pinot Noir.’85 Points
