Peter Saunders
A Guide to New Zealand Wines - 2004
Slow to mature style with some
richness coming out but with a lot of class also. Not an over-the-top
style, just big ripe fruit with fine spine holding well. Could
easily be 10-year wine.

Still in its infancy, this oozes
honey apricots and nectarines, with rich, sweet lingering flavours
and a lively, clean finish. Give it a few years in the bottle and
it will develop more complexity.

Michael Cooper’s Buyers Guide 2003
In its infancy, the 2002
(****1/2) looks full of potential. Light-medium yellow/green, it
is rich and slightly oily, with intense lemon, lime and honey flavours.
An elegant, finely poised wine, it shows lovely balance and concentration,
and should richly reward cellaring.

Only made in those years when botrytis infects the grapes
producing the apricot and dried fruit flavours characteristic of
this wine. Very sweet and concentrated with a lick of honey.

Buyers Guide to New Zealand Wines 2002
The 2000 vintage (*****)is
a beautifully scented and intensely flavoured wine, based on nobly
rotten grapes harvested at 38 brix. Finely poised, with crisp acidity
balancing its abundant sweetness (175 grams/litre sugar), it is
rich, honeyed and concentrated, with Botrytis adding a strong apricot/marmalade
influence
