2002 late harvest riesling reviews

Peter Saunders
A Guide to New Zealand Wines - 2004

Slow to mature style with some richness coming out but with a lot of class also. Not an over-the-top style, just big ripe fruit with fine spine holding well. Could easily be 10-year wine.

Charmian Smith

Michael Cooper
Michael Cooper’s Buyers Guide 2003

In its infancy, the 2002 (****1/2) looks full of potential. Light-medium yellow/green, it is rich and slightly oily, with intense lemon, lime and honey flavours. An elegant, finely poised wine, it shows lovely balance and concentration, and should richly reward cellaring.

Michael Cooper
Buyers Guide to New Zealand Wines 2002

Finely poised, with crisp acidity balancing its abundant sweetness (175 grams/litre sugar), it is rich, honeyed and concentrated, with Botrytis adding a strong apricot/marmalade influence
