ISO14001
Living Wine is a co-operative group founded by four wineries:
Martinborough Vineyard, C.J. Pask Winery, Palliser Estate, and Vidal
Estate.
In February 1998, Living Wine became the first group in the world
to gain the environmental accreditation, ISO 14001.
Living Wine has committed publicly to limit their impact on the
health of their vineyard soils and of their wineries on the environment.
In doing so, Living Wine members maximise the quality of their
harvest and assure the sustainability of their winemaking.
Environmental integrity, accountability, the development of targets
and plans of action to this end are essential ingredients of the
ISO 14001 standard.
The relationship between soil, vine and wine is encapsulated in
the name "Living Wine".
The winemaking philosophy of Martinborough Vineyard is to produce
the best "New World" wine with a commitment to sustainable
viticulture.
Directors and staff have undertaken to manage this deed with the
introduction of an internationally recognised, environmental management
system - ISO 14001.
The system requires us to identify all environmental impacts,
set targets and objectives, and to review regularly our environmental
and business performance.
The introduction of the ISO 14000 standard has been a dynamic
process, working alongside the other wineries in the Living Wine
Group.
Martinborough Vineyard believes that this environmental management
system will enhance our philosophy. This can only be a beneficial
approach for New Zealand businesses in the international marketplace.
